This is a short, dissonant loop made with a neapolitan mandolin. This has been recorded with an sm7b into a rme interface, and quantized to 148bpm in logic pro x. This is a dry file with no other processing. I used it on a couple of old-school hip-hop beats to trigger effects or completely butchering with distortion for some extra textures. I thought it might come in handy to rap producers out there! if you do something with it, i would love to check it out!. I was recording an acoustic version of a song called "closer" by my band dead rituals, and a friend let me borrow this old neapolitan mandolin. I made some random noises by picking behind the strings at the end of a take, and i decided to sample it!.

I scrapped a pick down the low e string of an acoustic guitar. Recorded with rode ntg-2 mic into zoom h6 handy recorder.

A gasoline powered string trimmer (with quieter riding mower in the distance). There is a second good nearby section near the end. Recorded with the zoom h4n in 48k/24bit.

I made this instrumental music in two versions, with and without drums. This is with drums. I did it in garageband for a thing called victors crypt. I made a bass-line on a doublebass that i played around with. Like the fact that it's groovy and a bit dark. Added a drumbeat i made that i think suited the bass-line. Strings are always cool so added that and more. Could be perfect for an intro, outro, something spooky and cool, mysterious or whatever you feel like. . . . Let the imagination run wild. I created this piece by using the squidfont orchestral soundfont and a program called musescore. You can use this music for any kind of sad part of a movie, a romantic scene, when you're going to heaven, etc.

This is a short bassline sequence, played with plectrum on a classica (nylon string) guitar. The sound was slightly muted using the hand to damp it. I used this sound for coursera course "audio processing for music applications". .

Something i did for a show called victors crypt. It's basically some strings and sounds in very random order creating a spooky vibe. No melodies or such, just a freaky atmosphere. Piece for string quartet that explores the portuguese myth of the galo de barcelos. Recorded using logic pro x and motu symphonic instrument. A remix of this piece was included in the queerstory app for world pride 2014 as accompaniment for a locative video piece called "allan gardens. ".

Feedback from the open a (5th) string.

This is a single guitar string plucked with a pick directly at the headstock, that means between the tuners and the nut. There the string is very short and tight, resulting in a high, almost piano-like tone. Also, since there is no sound box, the tone is rather quiet. I used this for a sampler and i liked the sound of it. This is the raw recording. If you want to use it in a sampler too, i recommend adding some eq, reverb and maybe some delay. It is not perfectly in tune though, the closest note is a#. You might tweak the tuning a little bit when using it in combination with other tuned instruments. Microphone: akg perception 120post-processing: none.
